Graeme‘s early career was spent in Marketing Management with Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson. He then joined Morgan and Banks and worked in recruitment and outplacement, before finally leading their change management division.

In 1998 he joined AT Kearney Executive Search and became the Joint Managing Director. Between 2000-2005 he went through a severe bout of depression which his psychiatrist described as the worst he had treated.

During his worst times he yearned for real life stories of people who had been through what was happening for him and come out the other side. In June 2007, John Brogden launched his book “BACK FROM THE BRINK: Australians tell their story of overcoming depression” which quickly became a bestseller. He now speaks, writes, and consults on overcoming depression and adversity.

“Working as a journalist and newsreader at various radio stations across the country has taught me the need to live a balanced life. Adequate sleep, a nutritious diet, and plenty of exercise, laughter and play are all ingredients that lead to a healthy mental state, and ultimately a fun and fulfilling life.”

“Mental health disorders not only affect the sufferer, but the people closest to them. That's why I decided to publish my personal story, and the natural toolkit I created to overcome depression. I hope that when others read The Upside of Down, they feel inspired to break free from their prison cell and end the pain too.”
