About Lifeline South Coast
Lifeline operates a national 24 hour telephone counselling service on 13 11 14. The Lifeline South Coast call catchment area covers the coastal region from Helensburgh to the Victorian border. We are a local organisation with a local Board focusing on our local community.
Our aim is to be there as life happens.
We were established in Wollongong in March 1969 and the Nowra branch was opened in 1981. The service is non-denominational and volunteer telephone counsellors come from a wide range of backgrounds.
You can call 13 11 14 and speak to a trained and caring telephone counsellor about any issue, no matter how big or small: relationships, loneliness, life decisions, grief, addiction, abuse, stress, depression and suicide. Telephone counsellors help you talk about your problems and assist you to find ways to solve them.

Educational tools
Lifeline South Coast has developed a video program for young people called Help's On Hand - Reach out and grab it!. This program has been designed as a resource that fits within the MindMatters and Crossroads secondary school programs.
Research shows that around 90% of young people tell their peers rather than a professional about their distress. Unfortunately, friends may be poorly equipped to handle the difficult situations, often compounding the problem. This important education package will reinforce to young people that it’s much easier to nip problems in the bud - before their problems become overwhelming
The Help's On Hand - Reach out and grab it! video program was designed and written in conjunction with the NSW Department of Education and Training as a resource that fits within the Stage 5 outcomes of the PDHPE syllabus and also support the MindMatters and Crossroads programs.
It is available for $35 (inc GST) by phoning the administration office on 02 4228 1311.
