Lifeline's Big Book Fair raises more than $104,000

Last weekend’s Lifeline Big Book Fair has been yet another success! The three-day event took $104,014 in sales, the profits of which will go toward supporting Lifeline South Coast activities in our community.

Over 5,300 people browsed through the 72,000 books that were on display in more than 50 categories. The most popular categories were children’s books; visual arts; military and war; cooking; planes, trains and automobiles and who dunnit.

Helen Goldhahn, Lifeline Big Book Fair Organiser says it is a real credit to our team that the Fair has continued to be so successful.

“We have a wonderful team of volunteer book sorters who work all year round sorting, pricing and packing books for the Book Fair,” she said.

“They do a magnificent job getting so many books ready and ensuring we have a great selection on offer for our customers”.

“A huge thank you must also go to all the Lifeline and Southern.IML Pathology volunteers who helped out over the weekend and in the lead-up to the event. Their dedication and commitment has ensured another great Book Fair”.

“The support we receive from the community is fantastic. From donating books all year round to visiting the event this weekend to help raise money for Lifeline South Coast. People in the Illawarra are so generous,” she said.

Lifeline’s Big Book Fair is the major fundraising event for Lifeline South Coast. Lifeline is always as close as the phone on 13 11 14

The next Big Book Fair will be held between 23rd and 25th March 2012 at a NEW VENUE – the Illawarra Sports Stadium, Berkeley.

Lifeline South Coast is a local service, which means that the funds raised locally stay here in our community and are used to help local people talk about their problems and find ways to solve them.

Each year, Lifeline receives 14,000 calls from people in the Illawarra and South Coast.
