Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention (AISRAP)


The aim of the Institute is to promote, conduct, and support comprehensive inter-sectoral programs of research activities for the prevention of suicidal behaviours in Australia. Includes information for young people and families about how to take appropriate action in the case of a person expressing suicidal thoughts and/or actions.

Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention (WA)


The MCSP is a Western Australian Government funded body with the responsibility for strategy development and coordination to reduce the incidence of suicide and self harming behaviours. The Council has representation from key government and non-government departments and community organisations. When someone you know needs help resource.

Suicide Prevention Australia


Suicide Prevention Australia is a non-profit, non-government organisation working as a public health advocate in suicide prevention. SPA is the only national umbrella body active in suicide prevention throughout Australia, promoting community awareness, advocacy collaboration and partnerships between communities, practitioners, research and industry; information access and sharing and local, regional and national forums, conferences and events.

SuicideLine (VIC)

SuicideLine (VIC) provides specialist, confidential, telephone counselling for all Victorians, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for the cost of a local call (mobiles extra). SuicideLine (VIC) provides:

  • Supportive counselling for those with suicidal or self harming thoughts
  • Crisis intervention;
  • Information for people concerned about suicidal or self harming risk in others;
  • Support for people bereaved by suicide;
  • Facilitated referrals to services across Victoria.
  • Interpreters can be arranged for non-English speaking callers

Phone: 1300 659 467, seven days a week, 10am – 8.30pm (EST) to speak to Suicide Call Back Service counsellors. After hours calls are answered by our SuicideLine (VIC) counsellors who can provide immediate support or organise counselling sessions with the SCBS counsellors.

The Suicide Call Back Service is a free nationwide telephone support service for those at risk of suicide, their carers and those bereaved by suicide. The service supports callers through a series of up to six 50 minute telephone counselling sessions, scheduled to suit you.
