Lifeline Australia has welcomed the appointment of John Brogden as Patron of the newly formed Lifeline NSW network.
Mr. Brogden, CEO of Manchester Unity and former New South Wales Opposition Leader, will today be officially introduced as Lifeline NSW Patron at a welcome ceremony in Sydney. His appointment marks the formation of a new strategic network of Lifeline Centres servicing the New South Wales region.
Lifeline Australia CEO, Dawn Smith has welcomed Mr. Brogden on behalf of Lifeline.
“We are pleased to have Mr. Brogden join the Lifeline network as Patron. His support will be of great benefit to the collaborative efforts of our Lifeline Centres in NSW, and in raising awareness about the services that are available to Australians in need,” said Ms. Smith.
“It’s important for people going through tough times to know that there is help available. While Mr. Brogden’s main role will be to promote the work of Lifeline NSW, he will also provide a voice for the Lifeline network as a whole.”
Throughout Australia, Lifeline’s 41 Centres operate in a way that maintains a local presence in the community while also offering national services, such as the well-known 24-hour telephone counselling line – 13 11 14.
Services such as this are staffed by trained volunteers and Lifeline raises most of the funds to support these volunteers through its own efforts. The formation of Lifeline NSW will enable these Lifeline Centres to work more closely together on fundraising activities and on the provision of quality services to the people of New South Wales.
