Australian swimming icon, Dawn Fraser will represent Lifeline Australia in a million dollar, celebrity hole-in- one competition, to be held at Cockle Bay in Sydney on Wednesday 15 November, 2006.
Lifeline Australia were invited to participate in the charity golf competition and were grateful to receive the support of Dawn Fraser, who will line up to take the million dollar
shot. While Ms Fraser is more famous for her efforts in the pool, she has agreed to try her hand at golf on this occasion to support Lifeline.
“The services Lifeline provides for the Australian community help everyday people when they need it most. So many people are affected by issues relating to mental health and suicide. It’s great to be supporting a charity that makes such a difference to the lives of so many, “said Ms Fraser.
Lifeline Australia CEO, Dawn Smith, expressed her gratitude for the support of such a famous Australian, “We are very excited to have Dawn Fraser representing Lifeline at this event. Of course winning the million dollars would be phenomenal, we could fund vital programs and help so many people with that sort of money. That’s not to put any pressure on Dawn Fraser though, it’s a long shot and we are just thrilled to have her support,” she said.
While a million dollar win would undoubtedly be great for Lifeline, a hole-in-one will be no easy task. Each celebrity will receive one shot in which they must hit the ball 150 metres onto a pontoon floating in Cockle Bay.
“It doesn’t always take a million dollars to make a difference though. Donations of any amount can help Lifeline to assist Australians in their time of need, “said Ms Smith.
The event will be broadcast via live feeds during the Sunrise program on Channel Seven from 6:00am this Wednesday.
