What's Happening?

March 2009 Lifeline's Big Book Fair

The 2009 Autumn Lifeline Big Book Fair will again be held at Kembla Grange Racecourse between 10am and 4pm from the 27th to 29th March.

Funds raised at the Fair will go toward maintaining Lifeline South Coast's 24-hour telephone counselling service. Each year, Lifeline South Coast responds to more than 12,000 calls from Illawarra and South Coast residents.

For more details on Lifeline's Big Book Fair, please see the Big Book Fair page

How you can help

1. Donate Books

Any kind of book can be donated, old or new, including fiction, non-fiction, children’s, art, science, literature, history, royalty, military, craft, sport, new age, self-help, music, education and reference books. But perhaps in the highest demand are children’s books. Due to their popularity and our fantastic prices, the number of children’s books is low and so are desperately needed.

Books can be donated at the Lifeline South Coast Shops at Unanderra, Kiama or the Auburn St Warehouse in Wollongong. Drop off points have also been set up at Southern.IML Pathology centres across the Illawarra and South Coast. Click here to view collection centre locations

2. Become a Sponsor

Local businesses can help make the Big Book Fair a success by becomming a sponsor (both cash and in-kind). This of course helps to subsidise the costs of running the event. We would love to hear from anyone, so please contact the Lifeline South Coast administration office on 02 4228 1311 if you think you can help.

3. Volunteer

Lifeline South Coast has a team of dedicated book volunteers who have been sorting, pricing and storing books in the lead up to the Big Book Fair. These people will become the team leaders at the Fair, but will need around 100 people to help them over the course of the event. We will need:

April 2009 Telephone Counsellor Training Course
