NMHC Recognition of crisis support welcomed
Release date: 17th April 2015
Lifeline welcomes the release of the Report of the National Mental Health Commission’s Review of Mental Health Programmes and Services and looks forward to considering and discussing the recommendations in further detail with our colleagues, stakeholders and government.
Lifeline is pleased to see the acknowledgment of suicide prevention as one of the four key mental health areas and the bold recommendations for the reduction in suicide numbers.
The recognition of the need for a more integrated and coordinated approach to helplines and online support services in Australia is particularly welcome.
As the provider of the national telephone crisis line 13 11 14 and the Lifeline Online Crisis Support Chat service, Lifeline stands ready to contribute to the reform of mental health and suicide prevention supports in Australia, working with others to achieve this goal.
