Community fundraiser Q&A: Ride for Lifeline
2017 will mark the 10 year anniversary of Marisa' brother Anthony's death from suicide. To mark this anniversary, and commemorate what would have been his 30th birthday, Marisa and her 'partner in crime' Cameron we will be riding over 1000km from Melbourne to Sydney.
Q. Why did you decide to fundraise for Lifeline?
A. In 2007, I lost my younger brother, Anthony, to suicide. He was 19 at the time. I hate to think that I couldn't be there for him in his darkest hour, so I want to help Lifeline be there for others.
Q. What will your fundraiser involve?
A. We will be cycling (yes, cycling!), from Melbourne to Sydney and we're requesting donation from people who are inspired by our ride. We're riding through regional areas, so part of our aim is to also promote the services of Lifeline, and continue the conversation on the devastation of suicide and the need to speak up.
Q. What are your personal interests?
A. You would think cycling but no! Beach holidays, home renovations.. and bulldogs!
Q. What is the best advice you have ever been given?
A. Have the courage to live a life true to yourself, not the life others expect of you.
Q. And how can people help with your fundraiser?
A. We would love it if people could like and follow my Facebook page and our Instagram page! We would also love donations - 100% of which will go directly to Lifeline. You can donate via our Everyday Hero page.
