13 11 14 Lifeline Volunteer Crisis Supporter
Our national service receives 1250 calls per day, of which between 35-50 will be from people at high risk of suicide
The 13 11 14 service operates 24-hours a day 7 days a week, 365 days a year, is delivered by trained and accredited Crisis Supporters and supported by a highly qualified team of staff.

Training to become a volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporter is a rewarding experience and provides benefits including:

Lifeline Top End Volunteer Crisis Supporter says…
“Whether it’s you or whether it’s someone else that has made an impact on someone, knowing you’re part of an organisation that helps people through a personal crisis is something and that is pretty powerful".
Lifeline is looking for people with:
- The ability to express empathy and respect for others; and
- A strong sense of self and self-awareness
And prepared to:
- Undergo a police check
- Undertake comprehensive training
- Fulfill weekly shifts
- Work within the vision and values of Lifeline
- Make a two year commitment to volunteer with Lifeline; and
- Maintain quality of service as a Crisis Supporter – participate in supervision and ongoing professional development.
Training to become an accredited Lifeline Crisis Supporter includes:
- Paying a contribution to the cost of training
- Undertaking the National CS Workplace Training delivered in a combination of e-learning and face-to-face modes
- Being invited to complete a Student Placement (minimum 16 hours)
- Being invited to complete 92 hours as a Probationary Telephone Volunteer, and
- Participating in regular supervision and ongoing professional development
As an accredited Lifeline Telephone Crisis Support Volunteer ongoing training and supervision are mandatory to maintain accreditation.
CHCTC301C Deliver a Service consistent with the organisations mission and values.
CHCTC302B Provide client-centred telephone counselling.
CHCTC403B Provide telephone counselling in a crisis situation.
CHCTC404B Provide competent suicide intervention in a telephone counselling context.
1. Carefully read ‘RTO Pre enrolment Course booklet’
2. RSVP and Attendance at an Information Session.
3. Completion of application form, fit2work form, RTO Student Enrollment form and reference check.
4. Attendance at a face to face Interview with 100 point identification and completion of Applicant Declaration form.
5. Invitation for successful applicants to commence training
