Crisis Supporter

What is Crisis Supporter Voices?

Crisis Supporter Voices (CS Voices) is a new way for Crisis Supporters (from Voice and Text and Chat) to share their experience as a volunteer to continuously improve the Lifeline service. We are starting with a pilot from January to April 2026.

  • Your experiences of what makes crisis support meaningful and sustainable and the day to day of volunteering are important for us to hear. CS Voices creates a space for you to share experiences in defined topic areas and for Lifeline Australia to use the input to guide improvements.

By getting involved you could do things like:

    • Share what helps you feel supported in your role

    • Help test improvements and give feedback before they’re rolled out

    • Contribute to creating even better experiences for help seekers across Australia

This is a chance to share your unique experiences as a volunteer.

  • What’s Involved in the Pilot?

During the pilot, we’ll reach out to Crisis Supporter Voices participants for three engagement opportunities focused on:

    • Volunteer experience

    • Training pathways into crisis support

    • Continuous improvement of practices in crisis support

You’ll be invited to opportunities that are relevant to your role and experience, and you can choose whether to take part each time.

How we’ll work together

Some topics will be in early, exploratory stages. Others will involve testing solutions and providing feedback to improve usability for crisis supporters.

Who can take part?

We’re beginning with volunteer Crisis Supporters for Voice or Text and Chat, contributing outside their shifts. This won’t include paid crisis supporters or paid staff who also do crisis support shifts. If the pilot is successful, we’ll look at involving other roles later.

We aim to form a diverse group that reflects our volunteer community. Not everyone will be selected for the first pilot, but we will create a waitlist and let people know about future opportunities with CS Voices.

In order to create a diverse pool, we will ask questions in the EOI about your experiences, background and demographics. We will share the diversity targets we’re seeking to meet with the EOI. This is in line with Lifeline’s privacy policy, using personal information for the purposes of research.
